Any "school" that offers a degree just based on life experience is going to be considered wacky in the job market. If the school has no academic requirement, then it is actually just selling you a piece of paper based on your allegations of work experience. Even if you actually did have the work experience that you told them about, that would in no way qualify you to receive a legit degree.
There is an old proverb that states experience is no substitute for education, and vice versa. Don't waste your money on this lousy excuse for a degree.
References :
former college adviser

I got a masters degree by videotape/satellite, back before the days of the internet. I think it was better because I didn't have to travel to class, and I could pick just what I wanted out of dozens of classes at many different schools in the consortium (NTU, now Walden). They also award doctorates. There's a lot of things you need to learn in a lab, but there's a whole lot you don't. Of course I had been working as an engineer for 20 years and just needed to know some more theoretical stuff. You can view classes at many schools for free just to see how tough it is. MIT is one.
References :
An online bachelor's degree in engineering will not be taken seriously by anyone. A bachelor's in engineering without lab work is useless.
References :
absolutely, as long as the online college you plan to attend is completely legitimate. In fact...there are actual colleges and Universities that offer online degrees. You also may qualify for a scholarship of some sort because you're taking care of a terminally ill parent. Do some research, call a few local colleges. I'm sure you're not the only person whose ever faced this question...there has to be an answer that would meet your needs and still be considered Legit. Good luck!
